About Community Bible Study
“Transforming lives through the Word of God” has been Community Bible Study’s vision for 50 years and we are so fortunate to have this community-based class right here on Rockland's campus. CBS focuses on five essentials of personal bible study:
- At-home study questions
- In-depth teaching with cultural and historical references/background and clarifications for confusing or controversial points
- Small-group discussions and review at-home-study answers
- Commentary for each lesson written by scholars trained in theology
- A caring community
CBS is a beautiful picture of God’s intention of living in community through Him.
This year the Genesee CBS class will be joining CBS classes from around the world in studying Psalms. There could not be a better book of the Bible for all to join in and celebrate 50 years of CBS ministry.
The Genesee CBS meets in person at Rockland on Thursdays from 9:30 to 11:30 am and offers child care. If Thursday morning doesn't work for your schedule, there is a Thursday night group that meets at Bergen Park Church in Evergreen. We are also providing online-only options on Tuesday evenings and Wednesday mornings. We even have a hybrid group (in-person and online) for our travelers and snowbirds on Thursday mornings.
Our NextGen Ministry is dedicated to help raise up the next generation through excellent teaching with age-appropriate lessons for babies through high school, including memorizing scripture, learning to pray for each other and their families, singing praise songs, doing Bible-based crafts, and playing with the heart of a child of God. Elementary-aged kids through high school study the same books of the Bible as the adults.
In addition, the Genesee CBS coed Young Adults group (aged 18 to 30 years) meets Sunday Afternoons from 4:00-6:00 in a private home. We fellowship over dinner, review the home-study questions, and watch the teaching time together.
No matter where you are in your familiarity with the Bible, CBS will deepen your knowledge and love for this life-changing book. You will be surprised at the insights and applications God has in store for you.
Classes begin September 4th at Rockland. All other groups start the following week, respectively. For more information or to register, go to https://genesee.cbsclass.org/
